gvim colorscheme in vim

Dear friends,
gvim comes with different colorscheme, one of them is "slate"...which I use(ok, a slight modification of slate).
I have noticed that this specific colorscheme works with gvim only, not with vim.

Any idea?
gvim --version
VIM - Vi IMproved 7.3 (2010 Aug 15, compiled Nov 12 2012 14:43:48)

What do you mean by "it only works with gvim"? I have a slate colorscheme which I can select using ":colorscheme slate" in vim, and which changes the colors from the default scheme... Do you mean the colorscheme looks different in gvim and in vim?

I mean the colorscheme look very different in vim and gvim. first of all, the background in vim is still white, not dark as defined in slate, etc.

Turning reverse video on or off in your terminal also makes a big difference. And make sure KDE isn't messing it up.
