GRUB root="/dev/sda1' does not exist. gentoo installation problem


i am installing gentoo in usb drive. and completed it without any error.

but root partition wont load. error is root="/dev/sda1" does not exist.
i have tried
root=UUID=<uuid>

root=/dev/disk/by-uuid/<uuid>

the same error shows up.

thanks for any help

ps. i would have posted on gentoo forums. but i am waiting for activation mail.

Are you trying to boot from usb pendrive with root partition on /dev/sda1? In this case I'll choose to install my grub on /dev/sda during installation of gentoo instead of /dev/sda1.

Also... remember that Grub numbers partitions from zero, not one...
