Grub removal

I have mandrake on one HD and win ME on the other. Grub was installed with mandrake for the dual-boot thingy. How do I safely remove grub so that I only boot to my windows ME disk?

Colonel Panic 09-03-2001 03:56 PM

Go to a DOS prompt, and type :

fdisk /mbr

There ya go! All nice and safe!

???Can you get into DOS???

Ummmmm

Someone has told me that before. I take it you mena booting with a floppy and then doing that? Doesn;t that wipe the master boot record leaving my computer absolutly crippled?

linuxcool 09-05-2001 12:16 AM

No. It doesn't wipe the master boot record. It just replaces the grub or whatever bootloader is in the mbr and replaces it with the original boot loader program.

buddycwll 09-05-2001 03:04 AM

Right, so ....

How should I do this? Use a boot disk and then run fdisk /mbr or do an F8 and go to does that way?

linuxcool 09-05-2001 03:45 AM

That's right. Just get yourself an msdos or a windows boot disk that has fdisk on it and boot up and run fdisk /mbr.
