GRUB/partition dilemma?

Okay, I'll try to explain my situation as best as I can. Keep in mind, I am not that experienced with Linux, so try to be as clear as possible, and I would greatly appreciate it. ^_^

So on to the dilemma...
The best I can describe it is I had two partitions on my hardrive. One windows, one Linux. Well, I went to remove the Linux partition, in favor of more harddrive space on the windoze side, and turned the partition into a windows format as well.
(So I had a harddrive with a partition, but both are now windows).
Now, the problem I am having is this: every time I load up, the screen remains black and just flashes the word GRUB at me in the corner. If I'm correct, I think this has to do something with the loading of the Linux partition? But it does not exist anymore.

Is there a simple solution to this, that won't endanger the data on either side of the harddrive? Or a way to remove this 'GRUB'-loader altogether?

Thanks in advance.

load your windowz cd, and run : "fixmbr" (without quotes).

Now you'll get the default windows bootloader, that'll boot you straigth into .. windows Oo.

I'm sorry; is there a particular Windows cd required for this? The only I have loads up a setup consisting of a) loading Windows XP back onto the harddrive, or b) repairing an existing Windows XP menu.

Is there any direction you can provide from this point?

Minor clarification:
Boot the Windows install CD and select rescue mode. When you get to the terminal prompt, enter "fixmbr".

A normal linux install will put the GRUB bootloader in the mbr. This is not affected by removing the Linux partition.

My site has an article on booting which might be of interest (link below)

I think "repair" is equivalent to "rescue".

Select repair from the CD menu. This will start the recovery console where you can run the fixmbr command.

BTW grub is looking for the menu.lst file which it can longer find due to you reformatting the linux partition.
