GRUB loading stage2Read Error

When I try to boot up my MS/Linux dual boot system, I am getting the error:

GRUB Loading stage2Read Error

I am getting this instead of my Grub prompt to select my operating system to boot. The problem was showing up sporadically, but on a second boot would boot up normally. It has since has become more persistant.

Anybody have any idea what is going wrong?

Any and tips and clues would be appreciated.

Grub usually uses two stages to boot up your system which are copied into the MBR.The solution to your problem is to reinstall grub on the MBR.(I think the problem in your case is due to some program writing some data in the MBR-like viruses)

It seems to have gone away again. Here are some impressions I have on the problem.

If I start up this computer without starting out its associated LAN, it seems to show up.

I had my system set up to use the boot ROM for the onboard LAN port. When I disabled the boot ROM, it also seemed to show up.

I have not attempted to reproduce the problem yet because I'm afraid of making things worse.

If I can't boot up the system because GRUB isn't working, how do I reinstall it?

I am trying to reinstall grub. but I don't know what to do?
I lost it when I had to reinstall win98 on my only hdd.
can someone tell me how to do it? please

you can use your installation cd for rescue mode to boot to Linux and reinstall grub there....

I could find the answer
1- use the first CD to boot
2- type linux rescue
3- chroot /mnt/sysimage
4- grub-install /dev/hda

that's it! (I am talking here about RH 9.0)
