Grub Legacy Windows boot menu

When I boot windows manually ;

Quote:
rootnoverify (hd0,1)
makeactive
chainloader +1
boot
That menu has a lot of old or redundant entries.

How do I edit this?

Thanks in advance!

?
Please define what you mean by that .

grub0.9 keeps 3 old kernels listed ( and the os keeps the 3 back-ups installed)
As a backup emergency measure

Thanks for the reply!

When I get the (windows boot menu) it lists every windows install I ever had. It must be editable from Grub as you boot but I can't remember how I did it. When you make a boot menu for Grub originally ,you have a choice of what to name your windows install. I have "windows XP ,windows XP pro, windows" and what ever else I felt like naming windows when I reinstalled it. It just adds to whatever is already there so I have a bunch of entries.

then this is not a linux / grub issue

but a windows C:\\boot.ini

Microsoft dose not like you editing it ( i would normally use MS visual studio )

but any linux distro that can RW to MS's NTFS partition can edit it

unless you replaced the windows bootloader
then AS ROOT
edit /boot/grub/grub.conf
