I do not understand how the GPG keys work..

can someone explain to me how to set it up for a ssh client so that you would not have to login each time...

Here is where to learn about gpg: www.gnupg.org. As for setting it up with ssh, that would defeat part of the security designed into ssh. If you don't want to have to use a passphrase, create your keys and omit the passphrase. But that leads to the same security issue.

The use of keys is the only way to easily use SSH in scripts without storing a login and pass in plain text somewhere in the script. There's nothing wrong with using keys..

If it's not for scripting and you want additional security configure the keys to require a passord. then to login you not only have to have the keyt but a passphrase as well..

well what I really want to do is to have a key system for my servers so that they can exchange backup files with cron. Right now I have to manually make do the scp...
