Cool Good video card swap?

I have a NVidia GeForc4 FX5200 video card at the moment, and I have the opportunity to get a really good deal on an ATI Radeon 9200 or 9600XT. Both have a rebate at Best Buy and I have some "Best Buy Reward Bucks" to spend. It works out that I could get the 9200 for about $45 and the 9600 for $99. Is it worth shelling out the extra money for it? I do some gaming, in both windows and in Linux with WINEx.

Is the preformance difference in my current card that much below that of the Radeon's that it would be worth my effort to switch. I know ATI cards are fairly praised by the Linux world. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi BRoscoL!!!

I've never used an ATI myself, but a friend of mine has ir and use under Windows. I've nothing but good things to say about that card. However, I've seen so, so many threads complaining about ATI support under Linux. I'm not sure if they have addressed that problem, but Nvidia provides really good and easy to install drivers for Linux, including full 3D acceleration and TV-out for the supported cards (you've one, so you might know). If I was you, I'd check to ATI's homepage first to see how Linux drivers support are and how well they work before doing such a trade. However, if you are going to game only under Windows, I would not think twice
