Hello, I'm looking on some information on what I should learn and spend time working with. I've been working with FreeBSD & Linux.
Idealy, my goal would be to become a *nix Systems Administrator/Tech Support somewhere. What should I learn how to do, any certification that employers accually care about, that kind of thing. What programming languages would be nice to learn?
You need to know how to set up well known services (BIND, sendmail, postfix, Apache etc), how to deal with problems.
Certifications? RHCE, maybe, but it's not 'a must'. In general: knowledge.
Programming lanuages: C, C++, Perl, Python. Plus shel scripting.
CompTIA has a new Linux+ certification that might be worth checking out. I'm not sure how good it is as I have not really looked into yet. Usually, CompTIA's certifications are pretty good.
