GNU/Linux on a Macintosh LC 757?

http://www.lowendmac.com/500/lc575.shtml

I have minimal knowledge on Apple and it's machines but I obtained a LC757 froma school rummage sale for 50 cents and was searching for a GNU/Linux OS replacement, if possible.

I have seen PPC distros but thats for the newer line of Apples correct? this is a 33mhz CPU (says that link) and no where on it says PowerPC. Rather confused by the simplicities Apple has work hard on acheiving

Any help or links to documentation about putting linux on this machine or not being able to at all would be good. The school still have many of these machines in use and I have got there attention on perhaps making them useable once again.

Thanks!

Well you could download a PPC version of your favorite distro (Mandrake has one, there is also Yellow Dog, there are others, those just came to mind)
and see if it works. That's what I'd do anyway.

50 cents, WOW!

Cool

The PPC Distros will not work as the LC 575 has an 68K processor.
Have a look at http://www.mac.linux-m68k.org, they state the LC 575 as supported.
