Gnome won't show desktop items
 
My friend is trying to us Gnome 2.2 in Mandrake 9.1 Gnome will load but it doesn't have any desktop icons and can't right mouse click on desktop. ever thing else seems to work. Is their a fix to this?

As far as I understand it, Gnome uses Nautilus to display the desktop, much in the same way windows uses explorer for theirs.

bash$ ps -e | grep nautilus
If this returns nothing, then just bust open a shell and type:

bash$ nautilus
This should bring up a file manager window, and should have started the desktop
