gnome-terminal is starting up in / konsole and xterm start up in ~ as desired
for some reason my gnome-terminal is starting in / when it should be ~
i have checked /etc/profile, ~/.bashrc and /etc/passwd and everything seems fine as far as i can tell
konsole and xterm are starting up with the working dir to my home dir (as set by /etc/passwd)
but im at a loss to see where gnome-terminal is starting in /
if i enter cd with no argumants in gnome-terminal it is switching to ~ fine, so i dont think its mistaking my home dir for /
make a .desktop file with exec set to gnome-terminal --working-directory=/
ideas ?? maybe BUT without knowing what you did before this started ...
did you update anythisg ?
did you install some new software ?
did you move things to a new harddrive ?
i can not even guess
dose this happen if you make a new user and login as that new user ?
