Angry Gnome panel crashed!!!


Hey everyone!

Basically I just clicked on the Mozilla browser on the panel... and then clicked the button that makes the panel slide left...then boom! it says the Gnome panel crashed... how do I get it back?

just rerun it. I believe it should be in the /.gnome folder...but however, search for it first by using the locate command.

Happens all the time ...

If you're going to sit on the bleeding edge (which gnome's CORBA inter process communication model is) you have to make a few concessions.

Personally, I switch to text mode, press Ctrl+C to shut down XWindows and relaunch it, which usually sorts it out.

There are other windows managers out there, but none using common objects (which means you can't always run other window manager's programs).

happened thrice already.... lost all patience and deleted the user profile, deleted the directory in /home, and just created a new profile... (Yes I'm a newbie).

Anyway, let me see if I got this right... you're saying press ctrl-c and then type startx to restart X right?
