1) I think my GNOME has a problem. An error like "Application "notification-area-applet" (process 807) has crashed
due to a fatal error." often occurs, then it asks me if I want to reload the applet, and everythings is ok.
What I have to do? I'm using RH9, and these errors occur immediately, as soon as installed, and no particular operations are made to make this error happen.
I also reinstalled rh9, but.... its' the same story....
2) I would like to try other desktop/window manager like window maker, xfce: how do I install them in order to make rh9 "recognize" them and to make gdm let me choose them on login?
Did you verify the checksum on your install disks? Sometimes a small file on the install disk will be corrupted and will only show up after the install is complete. I would run a checksum on your install disks just to be sure.
As for using WindowMaker, RedHat should come with an RPM on the install disk for it. RedHat 8.0 had an older version that had a security flaw in it, but I imagine that RedHat 9 has the most recent version.

Mmmmm... xfce4 .... http://www.xfce.org/ .. it's great - quite an improvement over the last version. I think gdm has an option to add other window managers but i dont know where. I boot straight to the console myself then start x manually. I use a modified .xinitrc file to load various window managers. If you want a copy of it let me know.

Yes, please, would you send it via email to repeater@libero.it?
Thanks very much.
Notification area crashes are a known problem, they occur through no fault of your own. If possible, install the -debuginfo package then get a backtrace and post it to the relevant bugzilla.
