Whey is it when you try and do a minimal install of any operating system it takes 20 times as long to get your wiindow manager working. I have a question for you all out there. Is there a way to get gnome working without having every program known in the linux world installed. I mean this frekin thing is loading shit i would never use like inline cd recording software. I knew there was a reason i put up with kde disk hogging software. But seriously i would really like to try gnome but every time i try and start it i get unknown errors that dont give me any clue how to fix. What i would like is a package list for slackware 10 that is required to run gnome.
Yea as i said before it says unknown error has occured in child process and no error message. <-- NO ERROR MESSAGE.
XORG log says nothing ither or when i crash the xserver with a ctrl alt backspace i get no failing module.
Enlightenment was doing the same thing but seriously i wont go into that bail of worms and a half.
WORD OF ADVICE FOR ANYONE ON SLACKWARE WANTING TO INSTALL ENLIGHTENMENT.
Just dont do it belive me its gonna make you crazy.
well maybe not that extream but dont belive enlightenment documentation about freetype 2 and imlib2 being backwares compatible because they are really not. If you have freetype2 and not freetype 1 then imlib2 will not compile and if you dont have imlib2 then enlightenment fails at configure. This is contrary to what it says on there site saying that the newest version of enlightenment can use the imlib without imlib2 witch from what i can see is just pure bullshit.

If you want to go minimalistic use a lightweight window manager. They don't include any of the useless programs you mentioned that are in desktop environments. On the other hand they don't include any useful programs you might use but I like them a lot more than the desktop environments.
