GNOM Desktop Icons missing

I have searched the site but could nt find the useful solution for my problem. My problem is when i startx from cli mode i dont get any desktop icons on my GNOM . i can only use alt+ctrl+del keys and logoff . when i login as a different user other than root then it works fine and all desktop icons appear perfectly. seems to be that root's profile has got corrupted .... or some thing is gone wrong with root's files ...
canyone help please

just:

cp /home/that_user_who_has_that_icons_u_like/gnome* /root

this will solve your problem
