Found this on /. last night looks kind of interesting. Has anyone out there tried this? I'm going to try it will post what happens. If anyone is interested in doing this, I have two gmail invites left over I'll contribute. (First come first served)
I can't send you email. This is the error I encounter when going to your profile "Sorry! That user has specified that they do not wish to receive emails through this board.
My adress is [EDIT]... if you don't want to post your adress in here
On its way . Enjoy!
Sorry folks all out of invites. Anybody needing one:
Telnet to sdf.lonestar.org and set up a shell account (costs $1.00 US) ang go to the gmail bulletin board. Lots of people giving them away and the site has some good resources also.
Forgot to mention the sdf account is free for the first 90 days then you can choose to validate.
Got it all installed seems to work pretty well. I set up a pop3 server on it so my daughter (windoze lover ) can use
outlook to manage her gmail account.
Sometime later this week I'll put it in fstab and run a SARA
scan and see what vulnerabilities (outside the obvious ones)
exist. BTW I found one last gmail invite anyone needing it please post.
WARNING !! I am doing this as a learning experience and will more than likely end up with a trashed system or some other nonsense. However if you are feeling adventurous here's how :
From what I understand, you set up your computer to retrieve stuff from gmail and you access your computer remotely (through the various servers) and it relays that information back to you. Am I correct?
