i don't want the folder...if it's there it's causing things to lag i think. also, if i try to just unmount /mnt/windows so i can format it (there's nothing on it anyway), it tells me:
error unmounting /mnt/windows: Device or resource busy.
so i'm at a loss. i add this problem to impossibility of networking with samba and clicking noises on my speakers, not to mention the many other problems i've encountered over the years, and i feel like forgetting linux ever existed...
Try using lsof to see what is busying out /mnt/windows:
Code:
lsof /mnt/windows
The above will show information about what open files exist on /mnt/windows - more importantly it will give you the process IDs (PIDs) of the processes that have it open. You can close or kill those (kill only after you know what they are of course).
the thing is...there's nothing on /mnt/windows so nothing could be running...
there was just that folder, which i put there for SAMBA, but not having been able to configure SAMBA to work, i got rid of SAMBA. i think the folder is gone as well, but like i said it shows up under console...
???
i get this:
# lsof /mnt/windows
lsof: WARNING: can't stat() smbfs file system /mnt/windows/Jbox
Output information may be incomplete.

ok, apparently the directory was mounted. so i unmounted it and removed it...all seems well.
