Getting rid of GRUB

Hey guys,

So I have two hard drives, one has Windows XP and the other one has Ubuntu and my boot manager is GRUB. I want to format the hard drive with Ubuntu to just NTFS and then go back to using Window's boot manager.

My question, can I just put in the XP disk and use fixmbr then just format the second hard drive using the same disk? Or do I risk losing information on the hard drive?

Thanks for any input

If using the Win XP disc, then fixmbr should get rid of grub. If using dos discs, then you need to use "fdisk /mbr".

Thanks for the quick replies. Should I also use the Win XP disk to format the Linux drive or is there a better method for doing that, perhaps in the Windows environment?

Thanks

If you are formatting the drive back to NTFS, then I don't see anything wrong with just using your Windows XP disc.
