Getting rid of firefox

How can I get Firefox completely off my Linux 18.1 system. I tried to install duckduckgo as the default and all seemed well, but everytime I turn the computer on, I am faced with firefox.

I'll assume you have Mint but you will have to tell me.

For removal of firefox.
Kind of depends on how you installed Firefox. If it came installed by default you can use the package manager to remove most of it.

I've never heard of a browser named duckduckgo.

DuckDuckGo is a search engine. You do not install it, rather you may select it as your default search engine within Firefox.

Perhaps if you tell us exactly what you are trying to do and what Linux distro you are using we can offer better help.

Firefox is a web browser and duckduckgo is a search engine. You use the search engine from Firefox so your question as stated is ambiguous.

Do you want to use another web browser or configure duckduckgo to be the default search engine while using Firefox?

Much to late...

Thumbs up Getting rid of firefox

Ignorance is bliss, lol. The firefox distribution came with Linux Mint 18.1 Serena, when I installed. I thought that Duckduckgo was an engine and a browser. Thanks for the help. I guess I will live with Firefox and use DDG as my search engine.

IMHO, that's the ideal combination for browsing and searching: Firefox and DDG.
