I have setup a script in /etc/cron.daily that will copy a report for tripwire to /var/log/ every day

how can I set logwatch to include this log to be mailed to root like everything else....thanks

Logwatch doesn't come equipped with a conf file to include tripwire.. my suggestion would be to get a sample file to the logwatch developer and ask if he can create one or include in his next release but the most logical and open source way would be for you to create one to parse the information from your new tripwire logs and contribute to the project if you get one working..
