gcc installation from Fedora 6 DVD?

Hi friends

I have installed the Fedora 6 from DVD
but I see that the g++ doesnt exist in my system.
Can I install from the DVD the gcc package now or should
I do something else. If I can do it with the DVD, how can I do it

Thanks

If you have an internet connection use yum.
as root yum -y install gcc g++

If not, I'm sure you can use the package manager with Fedora and install it via that appet. Never used it as I have internet and use yum on CLI.

In case you cant install from Internet, you can create a local repo of the dvd as follows

Use installation DVD as repo for YUM

1. create a .repo file in /etc/yum.repos.d, mine is installcd.repo

[installcd]
name=Fedora Core 5 Installation DVD
baseurl=file:///media/disk
enabled=1
gpgkey=file:///media/disk/RPM-GPG-KEY
gpgcheck=1

## baseurl : give the path where the repodata folder exists
## gpgkey : give path of folder where RPM-GPG-KEY exists

save and run yum

This means that I should make a text file called installcd.repo

that includes the text

name=Fedora Core 5 Installation DVD
baseurl=file:///media/NEW/repodata
enabled=1
gpgkey=file:///media/NEW
gpgcheck=1

and put it in

/etc/yum.repod.d

"NEW is the name of the disk and the RPM-GPG_KEY files are not in a folder"

Sorry for the stupid questions

yes for post #4
I tried with my fc6 dvd, the path is /media/disk
which means you should try following text in the installcd.repo

[installcd]
name=Fedora Core 6 Installation DVD
baseurl=file:///media/disk
enabled=1
gpgkey=file:///media/disk/RPM-GPG-KEY
gpgcheck=1

Sorry I forgot, you will need to disable all other repos by putting enabled=0,
mostly the following are enabled unless you have installed additional repos
fedora-core.repo
fedora-updates.repo
fedora-extras.repo

(repo files are in /etc/yum.repos.d/, edit with gedit in supervisor mode)
