Game Joysticks
Does anyone know of some good joysticks that functions under Linux? I have checked a few hardware databases and cannot find any references to any 'sticks that may work.

most of the basic ones are supported in the kernel, here's a site that has a driver for the more complex controllers.

I use InterAct HammerHead FX, it works great under linux (or at least for me). Also you can find more info and drivers here

hammerhead and xmame
I have the hammerhead fx working with xmame, gxmame frontend, However I cant use the directional pad to play games and cant set controls to it. I can only use the analog sticks which are a pain to use when playing fighting games. I can use the directional pad to select the roms in gxmame but when i try to use them for gameplay it doesnt respond. Does anyone know the solution to this dilemna?
zarathustra also, if needed I can post system stats, os ect. |
USB
Hi Stephanie
I would recommend you to use an USB joypad. I've tried so so so many times with the most diferents joypad/sticks you may think. No matter what, I could never get it to run under Linux and the default joystick port/sound card joystick port. Then, out of curiosity, I've tried with 2 USB pads of mine and it worked without any problem ( a little odd to load the right modules and other stuff). It's a Saitek 750P and a PSone USB adaptor (which allows you to use PSone and PS2 joypads/wheels under Linux). Those two ones works greatly. Thinking even a little further, I would recommend you a wireless USB joypad, so you can use it with mplayer (for example) as a remote control, really cool. That's what I'm going to buy soon :) |
