fvwm2 vs fluxbox

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to get some opinions for the two above mentioned managers. I'm trying to get make an old laptop useful again, but wasn't sure which window manager to use. I know many people like fluxbox because it's lean and fast, but I've also heard that fvwm, especially the older versions are also very good for old hardware. Please let me know what your personal opinion is on the matter. Thank you.

Never used fvwm myself, but I've used Fluxbox on pII machines and on this p4 right here. Sleek, slick, very clean and very customzable. I really didn't need all the fluff of Gnome/KDE and so I was very happy to find I was not requied to have it.

If you want a highly-cusotmizable WM and don't mind taking the time to read the man pages and write out the config file, FVWM is the way to go.

If you don't want to spend the time, or you don't need the customizeability, then Flux is probably more your thing.
