Question FTP library

I'm using FTPLIB 3.1.

Port mode FTP...
If I disconnect and then re-connect again in about less than one minute afterwards, then I connect ok, but any file I try and download, fails. (wierd).

Passive mode FTP...
I don't have the above problem, and cool, it works over firewalls too. But, if anything does wrong, like a request for a file that doesn't exist... it does like a 15 minute timeout.

Can anyone help? Or, does anyone know of a good and simple ftp library I can use in my code? (Besides this one)
