fstab, mounting a fat32 partition, need help w/ ownership and all that


i edited my fstab to mount my fat32 partition, but due to ownership i cant do anything with it while not logged in as root....







heres my fstab







LABEL=/ / ext2 defaults 1 1



LABEL=/home /home ext2 defaults 1 2



/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner 0 0



none /proc proc defaults 0 0



none /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0



/dev/hda8 swap swap defaults 0 0



/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu,ro 0 0



/dev/cdrom1 /mnt/cdrom1 iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu,ro 0 0



/dev/hda7 /mnt/stuff vfat uid=500 0 0















whats wrong with the vfat one????

what's wrong with it? you've not set the umask on it. change the uid=500 bit to uid=500,umask=000 for FULL user access to the drive. I believe the default is 022, which gives rwxr-xr-x only.
