fstab - mount options

I'm wondering how people's fstab file looks like. I wantet to install an application from a cd on my Kubuntu notebook and got:

./installUnix: permission denied
On, my Slackware system, I didn't had this problem.

Slackware:

/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto noauto,owner,ro 0 0

Kubuntu:

/dev/hdc /media/cdrom udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0

I changed this last one to:

/dev/hdc /media/cdrom udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec 0 0

Is this a good solution? I've read the the manpages of mount(8) en
fstab(5), but what do you find the best and most secure options?
(including other entries in fstab.)

If "installUNIX" is a script, you can use the full pathname as an argument to "sh"
>sh /media/cdrom/installUNIX

In that case I get:

./installUnix: line 39: /media/cdrom/vw7.3nc/bin/linux86/visual: Permission denied

I understand that the 'exec' option allows executing files situated on the mounted filesystem. My question was: how does yours fstab look like? What are the mount options you provide and why? (of course other users can post their fstab too)

Try executing it again, but don't cd into the drive first.

I have a game in linux that I need to start the installation program this way.
It this fails, there may be a readme file on the cdrom on how to manually install the program.

You may also try taking a peak at your logs to get a better idea what exactly happened.

From the Visual Works installation pdf:
Quote:
Experienced VisualWorks users may prefer simply to copy (drag-anddrop)
components from the CD to a target directory and decompress their
contents. Configuration issues, such as setting paths and file
associations, must be performed manually, but are not described here.
You could also read through the installation script. It may not be too complicated and you might be able to set your paths and associations manually based on the information in the installation script.
