For the life of me, I can't get cgi scripts to work

Ok, I was going to post this in the programming section, however I think this has something to with apache, or um, er, I don't know...

I've been working on this for about 3 weeks, here and there...

I have the following perl script called perl.test.cgi

#!/usr/bin/perl
print "Content-type: text/html\n\n";
print "Hello, World.";

This works fine when I go to

localhost/cgi-bin/local/perl.test.cgi

however, now I have this

#!/bin/bash
echo "Content-type: text/html"

and the url is

localhost/cgi-bin/local/bash.test.cgi

if I simply

$sh bash.test.cgi

it works but not from the web.

The perms on the files are:
-rwxrwxrwx 1 nobody nobody bash.test.cgi
-rwxrwxrwx 1 nobody nobody perl.test.cg

I get an Internal Server Error via the web, and Premature End of script headers in my error log for the bash script...

I configured apache2 like this

./configure --prefix=/etc/httpd --enable-module=so --enable-cgi

The reason I want to execute these shell scripts is because I am trying to take a text based PHP shopping cart and rewrite it using bash, this is simply to work with bash and get my hands dirty with it, THIS SHOPPING CART WILL NOT BE USED

Any help would be greatly appreciated and I am getting very frustrated...

** I am posting my httpd.conf file for review...

Did you changes the permissions on the bash cgi file to executable?
Use the chmod command.

The difference is sh runs the script. If you change the script to executable then you can run it by.
./bash.test.cgi

someone please explain this...

I needed to put any empty echo after the content type...

#!/bin/bash

echo "content-type: text/plain"
echo
#the rest

really, it breaks without it...
