Font question

Hello there!
I am trying to install some truetype fonts.
I have placed them in a directory and created the fonts.scale and
fonts.dir files.
then typed : >chkfontpath -add /thedirectoryofthefonts
and added the path also in the xf86config file.

The Result
I can select the truetype fonts from openoffice , but I cannot see them in the font directory of kde's control center... (look and feel -> fonts) Have you any idea what am I missing here? Thanks!
