folder permissions

Hi,

I have 2 users on my system say "A" and "B".

Now user "A" will install a product named "productA" under /opt Example: "/opt/productA"

Now I want to give permissions to user "B" to be able to execute binaries & access files in folder "productA" created by user "A".

I gave permissions as user "A" to "productA" as follows:

chmod 557 /opt/productA

Howevere I am not able to access files or binaries logged in as user "B". file permission error.

Do I need to set umask somewhere?

User b needs read access to the directory the file is in, and probably all parent directories up from /.

An easier way to do it is to make user A and B members of the same group, them change the permissions on the directory to g+rx.
