folder navigation menu for linux ?
I'm running gnome3.0 and here we have a small folders' icon on activities toolbar that enables us to go to "home folder","desktop" or several other folders....
isn't there any desktop navigator like windows that enables me to browse folders from that toolbar....i mean if i need to got to a folder located in several other folders, can't i just go directly to it without opening and digging through several other folders? |
I don't use Gnome 3, but to my knowledge, you should be able to either edit the icons to your likings, or just add an icon for nautilus. If not, let me know, and I can figure it out for you. Alternatively, you also should be able to press ALT+F2, type in nautilus, and your file manager will open.

here,we can see horizontal menu too...so that we can dig into any folder directly...without opening a single extra folder. |
I've been looking for the same exact thing over the past few days and just found a great solution: Cairo Dock. It looks more like Mac OS launcher, but offers the same directory/folder navigation menu of Windows that you are looking for.

Or you can go all out and run up Awesome WM. Using freedesktop, you can have a menu like such when you right click your desktop. Just a thought...
