floppy drive not working with Mandrake Linux 8.1

I am using Mandrake Linux 8.1 and my floppy drive doesn't work. I have found that I need to "boot my kernel with the "nobiospnp" option specified at the boot command line." How do I do this?

What do you mean that your floppy drive "doesn't work"? Details would help...

But on your part about the whole "nobiospnp" option I just did a google search for: "kernel" "nobiospnp"

This was the first thing that page that came up:

Look at the middle of the page where it tells you how to specify the "nobiospnp" option in the lilo.conf file.

Hopefully this works for ya. Not sure if this is what you actually need though, considering the complete lack of information you've given.

Are you trying to access the drive via GUI or console command? If I remember the shortcut desktop icons and supermount didn't work in version 8.1. Are you using the stock kernel with 8.1?

I also remember 8.1 had a lot of bugs.

Try accessing the drive via a console window.

Can you post your hardware info? Is this a regular floppy drive?
