Flash crash
 

Hi everyone
I recently built a pc for my grand-daughter who's just started school and installed Lububtu for her to play about with and because I want her to learn to use a Linux PC before anything else, the PC works well, however I am having trouble getting her favorite web site working because the flash plugin crashes everytime i try to log in,the site I'm trying to load is a childrens educational site called "up to ten" I've tried it with Chromium, Firefox and Opera and the results are the same each time, I've checked the plugin they are using and it seems it's using the same plugin for each browser

"Description: Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202
/usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so"

This is the same flash version I'm using on another pc running Mint/Cinnamon and that's working perfectly, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as unless I get this to work the pc will be useless for her

libflashplayer.so is the name of Adobe's plugin.

If you didn't get if from Adobe directly, I can suggest this (it's a long shot):

Rename the existing plugin to something like libflashplayer.so.orig.

Download the plugin directly from Adobe in *.tar.gz format.

Decompress the tarball, then, as root, copy the new libflashpayer.so into the appropriate plugins directory (for Firefox, that's /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins).

Start the browser and test.

Like I said, it's a long shot.

this is a 32 bit OS ? right ???

the 64 bit dose some "odd" things to flash

Hi Frank and John thanks for your help, John I haven't had a chance to try your suggestion I've been working long hours but i will as soon as possible and post back, frank this is a 32 bit operating system, just one question is it possible this could be caused by my graphics card or driver because I suspect something about it isn't quite right ?

the instructions for 32 bit flash on a 64 bit os are VERY different than a 32 bit flash on a 32 bit os
