Firewire webcams not working on FC3
I need some help...
I setup a computer running Fedora Core 3 test 1, with a firewire card and a pyro 1394 firewire webcam. /sbin/lspci reports my card as:
"coriander &" opens saying no cameras found
"libdc1394/examples/grab_color_image" reports no cameras found as well
I tried it with the latest fedora kernel, 2.6.8-1.541, and my own customkernel with firewire compiled in(not modules)
any ideas? cameras are plugged in but don't work)
You realize that "Fedora" is not a solid distribution of Linux. In fact you will find certain technologies that work in Fedora core 1 that no longer work in core 2. Fedora is released as a testing ground. When you and others get something to work stable, RH will put it into their "for sale" enterprise editions and then release more problematic core releases for everyone to fix for them.
So, even if you get it to work, don't count on it working with the next "core" release.
Sorry, this is not an answer to your question, but it may save you time later. I just want you to understand that getting something to work in a Fedora core release does not guarantee that is will work in further releases.
