Firefox on Linux not rendering website properly

I have a website I just installed Joomla to. Under Windows using FF or IE it looks fine. On my Mint laptop using FF 2.0.10 the site looks messed up to me. Can anyone here confirm this for me and maybe have a hint as to why?

I am having to work on the site in windows instead of Linux. Thanks

I'm using Firefox 3 beta 3 on slackware, and it looks ok, can you post a screenshot on how it looks in windows?

Thaks for the quick reply.

Here is a link to a screen shot of the site in Windows. On my linux box. The main body is all the way to the right. The header and footer is centered. It is a new clean install of mint so was wondering if it is a linux issue or a local firefox issue.

At my end it looks the exact same as in windows. Linux itself has no effect on firefox, so I would think it is a local firefox issue

Yea I have tried 3 flavors of Mint and also tried Konqueror with it. Same look so I am figuring it must be some form of hardware thing.

Maybe its just the way mint set firefox and konq up

That's exactly what I am thinking. There where some errors using Validator.w3.org but even google and yahoo have errors. Other distros seem to work fine. I think like you said, some where in the Mint Kernel as a base, its alittle off in that department. But hey, I'm a linux newb so I really do not know much about the kernel. It just seems logical.

I am going to continue to play around with it and possible try straight Ubuntu.

--- Tried straight Ubuntu. Same issue. Some others on the mint forums report same problem. seems to be Ubuntu with that theme as other joomla sites work. FYI I am running a HP DV2125nr laptop.

Looks fine with Iceweasel 2.0.0.10 (Firefox) in Debian Etch as well. just fyi.

Well after some trial and error. I think there is a possibility that the webhost that the site is on has some effect on how it looks in Mint. I can browse to the vendors website for that particular theme and it shows up fine. So I am going to chalk it up to the webhost. I am going to try a different host and see if this resolves the issue.

Just look at the site in Firefox on Ubuntu.
I've achieved that same wide out of place look before. For some reason sometime tables don't get rendered like I think they should. - and your using tables to control the look and placement on the page. Usually for me Firefox and Linux display just fine. But thats what I develop web pages in. And then when I try IE things get interesting.

Browsers have a thing called Quirk mode that they go into when the html doesn't follow the rules. Basically they just guess at how the page should be displayed.

There are differences if the windows and Linux version of Firefox. might go through the validation listing and see if any of the errors are table related. Good Luck.
