files with extensions ;type=i

Many of the files I have downloaded from network are having the extenson ;type=i.
While I tried to change the desktop background it is not recognising .jpg;type=i files as picture file.
Can anyone tell me what are these type=i files and how to deal with them.
Thank you

use the file command

"file somefile.jpgtype=1"

replace the filename with the name of a file you want to know about ... if file says its a picture of type jpg ... then get rid of that background changer, as its a peice of dodo
