File associations (partially) not working in KDE

I want to play midi files with fluidsynth when clicking to a midi file in konqueror, so I did the following:
In the Tools/Konqueror settings/File types/Audio/x-midi added command:

fluidsynth -m alsa_seq /path/to/soundfontfile

as the first command to use for *.mid files. I also ticked the box "run in konsole", and "do not close konsole window".

The above worked perfectly up to SuSE 9.1, but it does not seem to work under two different SuSE 9.2 installations:

When I click onto a midi file in konqueror under SuSE 9.2, the konsole window opens up, but it remains empty, and no sound is heard.
Fluidsynth works perfectly when I first open a konsole window then start it. But it fails to start when the same is done from konqueror.

What is screwed up again in SuSE 9.2? Or am I doing something wrong?
