file association table


hi
i need to know where is the file association information is stored and can i modify it i.e that particular file extension is to be opened by a particular software and like windows where is the quickmenu items stored if any one has any info on this pls let me know.

there is no fixewd source, it will usually depend on which window manager you are using. there are some system ones in /etc/mimetypes or something along those lines, but afaik these are ignore by the more "cuddly" desktops
