Fetchmail messages into the void

Hello,

I did a clean gentoo 2005.0 install, completely updated, and I configured fetchmail:

poll **** via mail.**** proto pop3
user **** there with password **** is carlos here fetchall smtphost smtp.****

I ran fetchmail and it said it got all 89 ( ) messages. However, none of /var/mail/carlos, /var/spool/mail/carlos, and ~/mbox exist.
