Fedora Core 3 Gnome doesn't completely load

I just installed Fedora Core 3. Everything was working perfect. I ran up2date and restarted my computer. After I logged in the Fedora Core login loading menu didn't go away. The only way it will go away is to click on it. I then found out that none of the gnome settings menus would open (ie: Display, up2date, services,...). What happened? Everything looks fine, but most of the gnome menus won't open.

When I click on any of the system settings tools from the start menu the taskbar flashes and that's it. How do I fix this? There is no error messages, so I don't know what to search for.

1. Boot - Fine
2. Login - The fedora core menu (shows icons across the botton as things are loading up) that shows up after you click login doesn't go away.
3. If you click on the menu, then it disappearsou have recently registered at LinuxQuestions.org, but have not yet activated your account. You should have been emailed the link to activate your account.
4. Everything looks fine
5. None of the system settings tools will open. The taskbar just flashes when you click on one of them.
6. Things such as calculator and text editor still work.

I'm trying to be as detailed as possible, but this is hard to explain. Can anyone tell me where to start?

I tried logging in as other users, but I get the same problem.

1. Login menu shows each icon up to "Red Hat Network Monitor" and freezes. That is the last icon it usually shows
2. When I click on a setting tool the password query menu comes up.
3. After typeing in the correct password the taskbar flashes with the title and that's it. The program never comes up.
4. The same thing happens on preference menus excluding the password query.

To clarify the menu I was talking about. If you open "Sessions" menu and uncheck "Show Splash screen at login," then that menu won't come up.

Under the menu "Startup Programs" nothing is listed.

Under the menu "Current Session":
1. rhn-applet-gui --sm-client-id default4
Style: Normal
2. metacity
Style: Restart
3. gnome-panel
Style: Restart
4. nautius
Style: Restart
5. gnome-volume-manager
Style: Settings
6. eggcups
Style: Restart
7. /usr/bin/pam-panel-icon
Style: Restart

Does that help? Any ideas?
