FC6 Can't find SATA Hard Drive on New Installation

I have a HP ProLiant DL320 G5p server and I want to put Fedora FC6 on it and when I try to install it, it can't the the hard drive... I have 2 SATA 160gb hdd's... The processor is a Xeon quad core...

I've tried to pass all kinds of parameters at install time... pci=nomsi, pci= nommcnf, all-gerneric-ide, acpi=off, irqpoll... No combination of these seem to work... If is use irqpoll and all-generic-ide together, my core's lock up... If I don't use irqpoll, I get "Disabling IRQ" and some number... Then it just hangs...

Any Suggestions?

No you don't - FC6 is obsolete. IIRC: newer sata controllers have no drivers in FC6 installer, so won't be detected. However, if you have compelling reasons to use FC6, you could try passing "pci=nommconf acpi=off irqprobe all-generic-ide" to the kernel.

I already have the disks for FC6, so I figured that I would load it and update the kernal... By the way, I also forgot to mention that the FC6 version is for a i386 and not the X86_64... I would like to run the i386 for certain reasons...

I also checked out the Fedora website, real quick, to download FC8, but I didn't see any iso's for a server package...

Nope - the server install is an option in the full desktop disk. The base server is pretty much platform independent, perhaps you'd be better off checking out what else is on offer?

Note: there has been a paradigm shift in the fedora project since FC6 - there's more than the kernel needed to upgrade. Still, if you insist, try the kernel options, or rig up an IDE drive for the initial install.

I still could not get FC6 to work... I tried to pass just about everything at install time... So I switched to FC8 x86_64 and it loaded beautifully...

Thanks for your help...

Sounds painful, are you getting enough fibre?

Well f8 (note name change) is up to date. Well done - enjoy.
