Hi all,
I had installed FC5 and WinXP in my system... but when i formatted WinXP the FC5 option at the boot loader is not appearing... so how do i boot in linux ??? should i have to edit grub ??? i have FC5 DVD... can someone help me ???
thanks...
Have you tryied to enter in Rescue mode from the FC5 DVD? Press <F5> or type 'linux rescue' at the boot prompt. If you can boot then you can try to re-install the boot loader in the MBR.
Bye
What do you mean "when i formatted WinXP"?? What exactly did you do? And in what order?
If FC5 is not appearing in the grub menu, then you've probably done something to lose the entry in grub.conf ... you will need to take a look at this file to make sure.
boot from the fedora dvd and type "linux rescue" at the boot: prompt... this will give you a terminal. The file you want is /boot/grub/grub.conf (or /boot/grub/menu.lst).
If, however, you are not getting a grub menue (and you just boot right into windows like a normal windows boot) then I bet you installed windows after installing fedora. There are many threads in these forums about what to do in this event.
