fc2 freezes on startup w/ ethernet plugged in

I have a dual boot setup with XP and FC2 on separate hdd. I can boot into XP fine, but when I boot into Fedora it freezes when you see the "setting up localhost" on the startup screen. After messing with things, I found that I can boot in Fedora if I unplug the ethernet cable. Unplugging the ethernet cable to boot into Fedora is an unacceptable fix. How can I fix this?
