Hi.

What are your favorite free online backup/sync website(s)?

none.
if it's free it doesn't matter which one you use.
never upload anything unencrypted that you aren't happy to share with any intelligence agency.

I wouldn't consider giving any of my files to an outside source.

Or corporation, or the corporation's subcontractors and clients...

The model that Tarsnap uses looks promising. It's not free but close to it if your data does not change drastically all the time.

of course.
the implication was that if you're happy sharing your data with an intelligence agency, then your probably also happy sharing it with "lesser" entities like a corporation...

I love Grsync for local syncing -- PC to Ext HDD, pen drive, etc.
