Fat32 Partition

I recently created a 40gb fat32 partition to share between linux (suse 9.2) and windows xp. I have it mounted to /home/phil/media, but after turning computer on and clicking on this folder it doesn't show the files on the fat32 partition, it shows files previously there. But after going to drives and clicking on the appropriate fat32 partition /dev it opens the same folder but with the contents of the fat32 partition. Now whenever I open the folder like the first time it shows the correct stuff ( the fat partition files). I need to do this everytime on startup.

WHy does this occur, is it not mounting initially on startup?

Did you add a line to /etc/fstab to cause it to automount on boot?

"WHy does this occur, is it not mounting initially on startup?"

Right, you need to add a line to /etc/fstab describing your FAT32 partition. Then the partition will be mounted every time you boot.

http://ubuntuguide.org/#automountfat

Works for more than just Ubuntu, even though they're instructions from the Ubuntu Guide.

Unless, of course, the noauto option is specified in the fstab entry.
