fasttrak66 raid issue

I have a fasttrk66 card i got the drivers off promise web page. i'm really new at linux but it came in a tar and i untared it and and there's a whole bunch of files in there. i saw one that must be important boot.img what do i do i want to enable these driver because when the cards in and i try to start up in linux it freezes during boot. anybody got any ideas?

I'm pretty sure that the fastrak is supported in the kernel as of (at least) 2.4.16. Although you should be using at least 2.4.18 due to some IDE I/O probs for various devices (the Ultra/100 bit me in the *ss in 2.4.16)

ya i gave up i got the iso's for red hat 8 lastnight and am installing them right now.

You might be able to load the module pdcraid (modprobe pdcraid)before your setup attempts to partition your drives. It should load up the ataraid module first (shrug). Don't know much about the defualt RH install procedures...
