Faail to install fedora5/6
Hai,
My PC configuration is Intel Duo core Processor 2.8GHz D101GGC motherboard 512MB RAM 80GB Hard disk But I failed to install Fedora 5 or 6. Plz Help me. The installation stops at media test.I didn't get graphical mode.I dont know why it is stopping.I believe in compatibilities of my processor and motherboard for Fedora 5 or 6. |
Media test means it's testing to make sure you got a good burn. Maybe slow down how fast you burn and try again!

Fedora should have no problem with that system. Please provide more details about what steps get completed---eg are you prompted for setup information before it gets stuck on media check.?

From what you typed I can see 2 possible things you've done wrong:
1. You copied the iso as is to a DVD. Ie the only file on the dvd is the iso file. Your CD/DVD burning software should have an option which effectiveky opens the iso (think of it like a rar or zip file) and copy the contents onto the DVD. 2. You have actually done the above step correctly, but your BIOS is setup to boot from your hard drive first. To change this requires wntering your BIOS (normally pressing DEL at the memory test screen). Once there, look for something like Advanced Configuration which should have boot options. Set the 1st boot option to CD-ROM (or DVD if your BIOS says that). |

The problem with my DVD. |
Most pobably you are just burning (copying) the iso file to the DVD. You need to select the 'Burn Image to Disc' option in whatever burning software you are using. Then select the iso file you've got and you should get a bootable DVD after the process completes.
After this you need to check the MD5SUM of the burned disc. Only if this turns out to be ok can you succesfully install fedora. Quote:
