Extracting CD boot loaders

Hi,

Anyone know ways to extract the CD boot loaders under Linux?

The reason that I'm asking is that, many .iso files come with size much less than 700M. So it would be a waste of CD spaces to burn them as-is -- I want to add more files to them (then pack them up again as iso) before burning them. So the most important step is to extract the CD boot loaders (mainly for Windows based bootable .iso images), so as to make it bootable again.

Thanks

You mean Multidistro or adding apps/etc to a single distro cd?

Except thru the term, the way I usually do it is in Ubuntu you just right click the iso and select "extract here".
Ubunt livecd works too.

You could install gmountiso and isomaster, both avail thru ubuntu, and use them to copy the contents of the iso to a folder.

any slax download (iso/tar.gz) has a script called "make_iso.sh" and "make_iso.bat"(windows).
the script is in the "slax" folder.

To use the script, move or copy it into the boot folder, and there must be a isolinux folder in there too.
check the "make executable" box in properties(right-click script), or use "chmod +x make_iso.sh" as root.
Then either double-click it and choose "run in terminal" or thru the term with "./make_iso.sh"
when the terminal pops up give it a name that ends in ".iso", as in "mycd.iso" not "mycd".

Run any iso in qemu to verify it boots and plays.

you could take apart one of my multidistro's and I have instructions in there for all this and more.

I mean adding files to windows based disk, E.g. Win2k/Xp bootable installation disk, Norton ghost etc, while still making them bootable. Thus, extracting the CD boot loaders from Windows based bootable .iso images is the most important step, but all the solutions that I found/got are Windows based.

I need to extract the CD boot loaders under Linux.
