ext3 to ext4 problem

my tools on centos 5.11

1- kernel - 3.2.69
2- util-linux-ng-2.17 ( mount 2.17 )
3- e2fsprogs-1.41.14
4- grub-1.97
this tool and kernel are all working

-my steps
Code:
-boot on recovery
-change the fstab (/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 / ext4 defaults 1 1)
-mount -o remount,ro /
-e2fsck -pf /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00
-tune2fs -O extents,uninit_bg,dir_index /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00
-e4fsck -yfD /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00
and dont work, kernel panic dont mount my LogVol00

what i'm doing wrong ? or what i'm missing ?

the error is
Code:
EXT3-fs (dm-0): error: couldn't mount because of unsupported optional features (40)
mount: error mounting /dev/root on /sysroot as ext3: Invalid argument
shouldnt be EXT4-fs ????

i change the fstab
Code:
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 / ext4 defaults 1 1
LABEL=/boot              /boot                   ext4    defaults        1 2
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01 swap swap defaults 0 0
boot the OS
Code:
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00
                               ext4 14283576 6394836 7151460 48 /
/dev/sda1 ext4 101086 40743 55124 43 /boot
tmpfs tmpfs 2022980 0 2022980 0 /dev/shm
i can assume that kernel and mount are in the right version to work ext4

is the
Code:
tune2fs -O extents,uninit_bg,dir_index /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00
thats is killing my FS ?

fix my problem

recompile the kernel without EXT3 fs
and now kernel calls the EXT4-fs

but why with EXT3 and EXT4 the kernel calls EXT3-fs ???
