ext3 shown as fat32

mount:

/dev/hda1 on / type ext3 (rw)

fdisk:

/dev/hda1 * 1 523 4200966 b Win95 FAT32

hda1 WAS fat32, but i dd'd my linux system onto it, and am currently booted up on it as you can see... but the type still says fat32... eek!

any suggestions? is it at all safe to just change the type to ext? i'd normally assume that's about the most stupid thing to do in the world.. but i'm not sure now...

Mount recognizes the file system actually on the partition so it sees it's ext3. Fdisk only looks at the partition table which probably still has the old value. I think it's pretty safe to just change the type in the partition table. It shouldn't cause any damage. But since you can never be a 100% sure you might want to backup your partition table before you make any changes.
